We’re the first organisation in Yorkshire and Humber to be awarded Level 1 FutureFocusedFinance Accreditation by the NHS Finance Leadership Council (FLC).
The accreditation was presented to finance staff at their team meeting by Cathy Kennedy, FutureFocussedFinance lead for ‘Great Place to Work’, on Wednesday 18 April 2018.
FutureFocusedFinance is a programme that works with NHS bodies with a focus on making people count by connecting and developing professionals. The programme’s philosophy is that everyone needs access to the relevant finance skills, methods and opportunities to influence decisions affecting services. This helps colleagues work together to produce high-value services and reduce waste.
The accreditation system is designed to allow the FLC to recognise those NHS organisations that have the very best finance skills development culture and practices in place. To obtain it, we had to provide a range of evidence around infrastructure, personal development, professional development, finance workforce and career planning, corporate finance competence, business controls and policy. Accreditation lasts for three years.
Cathy Kennedy, FutureFocussedFinance lead for ‘Great Place to Work’, said: ”Congratulations. I’m really pleased to see a team from this area step up to the mark and get accredited. Everything finance teams do make a difference to patient care and achieving this accreditation is something to be proud of.”
Rob Adamson, deputy director of finance, said: “I’m delighted that we’ve been awarded this accreditation. It’s a testament to the hard work put in by colleagues over the past couple of years and the great team culture we have. Finance teams aren’t always the most visible in the NHS but staff play an important role doing things like making sure invoices are paid on time so that services continue to be delivered smoothly.
We’ve also achieved approved employer status with three of the biggest accountancy bodies over the last 12 months.
