International infection prevention and control week

Date:

International infection prevention and control awareness week takes place from 15 – 19 October 2018.

The theme for this year’s infection prevention and control week is sepsis. Every 3.5 seconds, someone in the world dies of sepsis. In the UK alone, 44,000 people lose their lives to sepsis every year. This is more than breast, bowel and prostate cancer combined. Globally, sepsis claims 6 million lives a year – yet with early diagnosis it is easily treatable.

Join our infection prevention and control team at their pop up stands with promotional materials at lunch times in the dining room at Fieldhead and Kendray Hospital as they focus on prevention of sepsis, recognition of symptoms and prompt medical intervention.
