Dennis Webster, Senior Health Care Support Worker / Gym Instructor, Thornhill Ward provides physical health activities for service users, and in doing so has increased the use of the gym.

Dennis works with service users in providing customised activities, to not only improve physical and mental health and wellbeing, but also to increase confidence, self-esteem and motivation.

Lots of people looked at the gym as a scary place and somewhere people go to lift weights, but Dennis works hard myth-busting.

He speaks about how the gym isn’t just about weights but also cardio exercises amongst other things – even to socialise.

Patients look forward to Dennis being on shift so they can ‘pump iron’ with him. Thanks to his hard work the gym is now in use even outside of normal working hours.
