Trust installs first electric vehicle chargers at two hospital sites

Date:

As part of our commitment to becoming a more sustainable organisation, we’ve installed our first electric vehicle charging points at our Fieldhead and Kendray sites.

The 12 new points will be available for staff and visitors from Monday 14 June.

This follows the Trust’s porters in Barnsley taking delivery of their first fully electric van which is now in use.

The charging points are managed by Geniepoint, a nationally recognised electric vehicle charging network currently used by local councils and other providers in our locality.

The Trust is looking to install more electric vehicle charging points and add more electric vehicles to its fleet in the future.

Trust chair Angela Monaghan said: “As a Trust we recognise the scale of the challenge that the climate emergency presents to us all and the impact it will have on our service users, staff, and our local community. We’re committed to ensuring that sustainability is embedded throughout all aspects of our organisation so that we can minimise our carbon emissions, air pollution and waste.”
