We appoint our new chair

Date:
Marie Burnham

We have appointed Marie Burnham as our new chair.

Marie brings with her over 25 years of leadership experience ‎from health services and the charitable sector, including in NHS executive and non-executive roles. Prior to this she was a registered nurse.

Before joining the Trust, Marie was the independent lay chair for the West Yorkshire and Harrogate Joint Committee, which is part of the area’s integrated care system.

Marie strongly believes in the importance of joined up care for people and communities, stemming from her role as independent chair of the Central Lancashire Integrated Care Partnership.

Marie is also the chair of Pennine Trust Academy of Schools, where she has worked on a voluntary basis since 2017, and a NICE (National Institute for Clinical Excellence) committee chair.

Marie said: “It has never been more important to ensure communities and colleagues have the best mental health and wellbeing support possible so they can live a long, happy healthy life.

“I look forward to working with the leadership team, colleagues, and communities to help people reach their potential, so they live well in their communities; whilst maintaining the values and behaviours which matter to us all here at the Trust.”

Marie will take over the role on 1 December 2021 from Angela Monaghan, who is retiring from her post.

Current chair Angela Monaghan said: “It has been a real privilege to be chair of SWYPFT for the last four years, and I have enjoyed working closely with my Trust Board colleagues, and many others throughout the organisation, to help the Trust deliver on its mission and vision. I feel honoured to have been part of such a caring, committed and values-driven workforce, particularly over the last few years. I’d like to wish Marie all the best in taking up the role of Trust chair.”

Interim chief executive Mark Brooks said: “I would like to thank Angela Monaghan for her skilled leadership of the Trust Board over the last few years, and I’m very pleased to welcome Marie. Many of her personal values align with those of the Trust and I believe she will be a great match in helping us to strive for excellence in everything we do.”
