Annual health checks are extremely important in helping people with learning disabilities to stay well by spotting health concerns earlier.
A health check once a year gives people time to talk about anything that is worrying them and means they can get used to going to visit the doctor. Anyone over the age of 14 with a learning disability can have an annual health check.
Catherine Horbury, co-lead for the Yorkshire and Humber learning disability and autism operational delivery network, recently went for her annual health check and wanted to share her experience.
“Hello, my name is Catherine Horbury and I am sharing my annual health check story with you all…”
