Catherine works at our Horizon Centre in Wakefield, an assessment and treatment unit for adults with a learning disability.

The Community Foundation Wakefield District’s annual Unsung Heroes awards shine a spotlight on people from across the Wakefield district who dedicate their time and effort to making life better for those around them.

In a year that saw a record number of nominations, Catherine was shortlisted as one of ten winners by a panel of judges for her peer support work, where she uses her lived experience of a learning disability to advocate for others. Catherine also regularly volunteers in her local community.

On the night, Catherine also picked up the People’s Choice Award, which was voted for by members of the public.
