Trust staff came together on 14 May at the Wakefield Trinity  DIY Kitchens Stadium, Wakefield, to celebrate the incredible contribution and dedication of our colleagues at this year’s Learner and Long Service Awards, presented by Mark Brooks, Chief Executive, and Christine Brereton, Chief People Officer.

A total of 97 colleagues were recognised for their commitment to the NHS, representing a remarkable 2,770 years of combined service.a room full of people in an awards ceremony

  • 74 colleagues reached 25 years’ NHS service

  • 23 colleagues reached 40 years’ service

Each recipient received a certificate and gift voucher, with colleagues celebrating 40 years also receiving flowers to mark this exceptional milestone.

We also celebrated colleagues’ commitment to learning and professional development over the past year. 270 colleagues successfully completed Trust-supported qualifications and development programmes in 2025/2026

Achievements were recognised across a wide range of programmes, including apprenticeships, preceptorships, the Care Certificate, leadership and management development, and quality improvement.

Mark Brooks highlighted that these achievements show individual dedication but the strength of our workforce, and by recognising both long service and continued learning, we demonstrate our commitment to supporting our people and delivering high-quality care for the communities we serve.
