Cheswold Park steps up to charity walking challenge

Date:

Staff and service users at Cheswold Park Hospital have covered the distance from London to Birmingham in a charity challenge which saw them stepping around their sports hall.A photo collage of two men walking around a sports hall

20 service users and supportive staff members stepped up to cover over 110 miles – a massive 2,201 laps of the sports hall and a total of 220,100 steps!

To keep spirits high, service users could request songs from a range of themes, including:

  • Coastal walk – where service users could stroll along to the sounds of the seaside
  • Woodland walk – making birdsong the soundtrack to their steps
  • Disco walk – getting moving to dance classics
  • DJ requests – all the service users’ favourite hits

Through step sponsorships and selling much-deserved refreshing smoothies from the hospital’s patient-run café, Chesbucks, participants managed to raise £143.15 for the Trust’s charity, EyUp!.
