Members’ Council structure

There are 34 places on the Members’ Council in total.  They consist of 18 publicly elected governors, 7 elected staff governors and 9 appointed governors from partner organisations.

The 18 public places are made up of 3 people representing Barnsley, 3 people representing Calderdale, 6 representing Kirklees, 5 representing Wakefield and 1 representing the Rest of Yorkshire, the Humber, Cumbria, Durham, Lancashire, Greater Manchester, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, and Lincolnshire.

The 9 appointed places are made up of representatives from our partner organisations including Barnsley Council, Calderdale Council, Kirklees Council, Wakefield Council, Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust, Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust, the University of Huddersfield and staff organisations.

The 7 staff places are made up of staff representing medicine and pharmacy, nursing, nursing support, allied health professionals, psychological therapies, non-clinical support and social care staff.

The Members’ Council liaises with the Board of directors which includes up to 7 non-executive directors, up to 6 executive directors and 1 non-voting executive director.

The Chair of the Trust presides over the Members’ Council and chairs the board of directors and acts as a ‘bridge’ between the two.
