Gary Ellis

Gary retired as chief executive of Coalfields Regeneration Trust, which supports and improves the quality of life for almost six million people living in former mining communities, following 25 years of service. From 2019 until 2024, he joined Mid Yorkshire Teaching Trust as a non-executive director. From 2013 until 2022 he was a non-executive director at Berneslai Homes, the arm’s length housing management company for Barnsley Council where he was chair of the audit committee. During this period, he also served as interim chair. Gary is a qualified accountant with extensive experience of operating at board level. He has a solid background in governance, finance and partnership working.
