Martin Neeson
Non-executive director
Martin was born in Glasgow, qualified with a B.Sc. from the University of Strathclyde and has lived in Yorkshire since 1988, when he joined Terry’s of York as a graduate trainee. He has operated at board level in large complex organisations. He joined Skanska (a large development and construction organisation) in 2001. During his tenure with Skanska, he held leadership roles spanning the entirety of UK operations and sat on the Skanska Norway board. He was appointed executive vice president in 2016 and has 35 years of operational leadership expertise working with customers in the public, regulated utility and private sectors. Martin personally invests in mentoring future talent; is a strong advocate of good ethical practices and brings the experience of implementing new IT and digital technologies.
Martin was awarded the Financial Times Non-Executive Director Diploma – Level 7 Advanced Professional Diploma in 2024, consolidating his skills and knowledge obtained during his executive career. He is passionate about making a positive contribution to the benefit of society and is committed to investing his time in supporting the community in which he lives. To this end he is an advisor to the development committee of the Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust.
