Salma is a mental health nurse by background, with a strong track record in transformation, innovation and developing partnerships.

Previously director of nursing services and transformation at King Fahad Medical City in Saudi Arabia, and deputy director at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, Salma was responsible for the mental and physical health care of older people across four London boroughs.

As a former chief executive of Bradford-based third sector organisation Sharing Voices, Salma implemented innovative ways of engaging black and minority ethnic communities in local mental health services. She successfully worked in partnership with a range of organisations to take the charity from strength to strength during her three-year leadership.

Salma supports the Trust Board to set the strategy and strategic direction including priorities for the Trust. She plays a key role in strategic partnership developments in our places and systems and her portfolio also includes leading the integrated change team; marketing, communications, involvement and inclusion teams, and library and knowledge management services. She is also the executive lead for our charities and the equality involvement and inclusion committee.
