Young Creative Minds have launched free singing groups for local young people in Barnsley, Calderdale, Kirklees and Wakefield.
Known as ‘Young Creative Minds & voices”, the online singing groups launch from Monday 8 March 2021 (in Barnsley and Wakefield) and Thursday 15 April 2021 (in Kirklees and Calderdale) and are open to young people aged 11 to 18.
Using professional singing tutors, the groups will also include other creative activities, confidence building exercises and feature guest musicians, and better yet, there’s no previous singing experience needed to get involved!
Funded by BBC Children in Need and supported by South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, the groups aim to support wellbeing and confidence.
Carol Harris, director of operations at South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, said: “Young Creative Minds & voices gives local young people the opportunity to make new friends, whilst taking part in something fun. Singing has many health benefits too and is proven to help improve self-esteem and reduce depression and stress.”
