Admiral Nurses are mental health nurses specialising in dementia. Admiral Nurses work with family, carers and people with dementia in the community and other settings.
Kirklees Admiral Nurses use Creative Minds funding to provide a series of workshops for carers of people living with dementia to enable and empower them to learn new skills in a safe and secure environment. The workshops promote feelings of wellbeing, confidence, togetherness and fun.
The workshops aim to reduce the levels of stress that can often be involved in a caring role, help carers to make friends with those in similar situations, provide information on supportive links and resources in the community, and increase awareness and reduce the stigma of dementia.
