Creative activities for children and young people

This project, run by the Trust’s Yorkshire Smokefree service in Barnsley, invited a group of young people to engage with creative activities through a series of sessions. All of the activities planned focus on health and wellbeing – sharing information about living a healthy lifestyle and the support available from Yorkshire Smokefree as well as the Change4Life team.

Each of the activities planned will challenge those involved, with the intention of building their confidence and social skills whilst raising awareness and understanding of healthy lifestyle choices. They present information about health and wellbeing issues in a fun, interactive and new way.

Through this project we aim to:

  • Build young people’s understanding of health and wellbeing, whilst building their confidence and social skills
  • Raise awareness of healthy lifestyle choices
  • Encourage young people to become future health champions
  • Signpost young people to support available from other sources

The young people involved will have the opportunity to influence the activities planned during each session and will be given the autonomy to contribute to these, drawing on their own experiences, choices and interests.
