Young people will be supported to explore, experiment, create and express themselves through music,
using professional standard equipment, instruments and resources. They will work in small groups, and
will learn about the relationship between music and emotion, expressing their thoughts creatively, storytelling
and making positive and beneficial life choices. The emphasis will be on creating tracks, and music
that help young people express their views, describe and regulate their feelings. Along the way they will
be developing skills, engagement and focus. Lyric or rap writing will develop expression and literacy, and
writing will be used as the basis for conversations about positive life choices.
Who is it for? Safe space studio: Open access will be available for young people aged 16-24. Kirklees
