The singing for fun group is run by Shaw Lane Community Sports Association in partnership with Worsbrough Common Community Association – as part of their initiative to develop community-led activities that address physical and mental health inequalities in local areas in Barnsley.
The singing group is led by a professional singing tutor, Debbie Angel, who teaches participants different singing styles with the aim of boosting their confidence and sharing relaxation methods.
To offer participants the opportunity to boost their physical health we’re also now running a gentle exercise session before the singing group. The Healthy Bones group, which has proven popular with residents of Worsbrough Common Community Association will give people the opportunity to learn about gentle, physical exercises that they can do to boost their bone health.
Through these groups, we hope to not only improve people’s health, boost their confidence and increase opportunities for socialising – but also to encourage people to make decisions about their own lives at the same time as helping to enrich the lives of others.
Joining us for the whole session, or just some of it is a great to chance to meet new people, learn or develop your talent for singing and have fun at the same time
If you’re aged between 55 and 85 and would like to join the activity group, contact David Clayton, project officer on 01226 204409 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
