Admission

The museum is free to visit; however, we do suggest a donation of £2 to the Mental Health Museum charity to support our mission and activities.

Visiting guidance

As we’re based on a working hospital site we are still recording visitors for Test and Trace purposes. Visitors will be asked to wear a mask unless they are exempt and we ask all visitors follow good hand hygiene practices.  We also ask you please do not travel to the Museum if you’re feeling unwell or have any Covid symptoms such as a dry cough, a fever or shortness of breath.

By Car

Motorway drivers should take the M1- turn off at junction 41- and follow signs for Fieldhead Hospital.

Parking for cars at Fieldhead Hospital is free but spaces in the car park are limited.

By Public Transport

From Wakefield Bus Station, use buses towards Pinderfields Hospital or Fieldhead Hospital.

From further afield, you can take a train to Wakefield Westgate or Wakefield Kirkgate stations and the museum is an approximately 30 minute walk or a 5 minute taxi ride from either station.

Coach and minibuses

Unfortunately, coaches cannot park on site. We ask coach drivers to drop visitors off outside the main entrance to Fieldhead Hospital before parking off-site.

Mini-buses with no more than 16 seats can park on site if they can fit safely in a marked bay.

We recommend that you contact the museum to discuss your visit if you wish to visit by coach or mini-bus.
