Choose well for mental health – children and young people

We have launched a guide to help children and young people (aged 18 and under) in Barnsley, Calderdale, Kirklees and Wakefield to ‘choose well’ when looking after their mental health and wellbeing.

We hope the choose well guide will:

  • Support people in looking after their mental health and wellbeing
  • Inform people about how to access the right support when they need it
  • Help people know what to do if experiencing a mental health crisis or emergency.

Parents, carers, families and friends can also use this guide to look out for children and young people close to them and help them get the right support and advice.

The guide has been co-created with children and young people with lived experience, and specialist healthcare teams who work with them, carers and their families.

If you work with children and young people and would like some resources to help you share this guide, please contact our communications team: comms@swyt.nhs.uk.

If you require a copy of this information in another format or language, please contact our communications team: comms@swyt.nhs.uk.
