The introduction of drama workshops within the Trust’s forensic service at Newton Lodge in Wakefield has helped people on the Chippendale ward to express themselves through a new activity.
The workshops are planned by staff who work with service users every day – so they can tailor the focus of each workshop to address particular needs or interests of those taking part. This also enables topics to be presented or discussed to service users in a new, creative way. The hands-on approach through which the workshops are delivered has also been shown to suit service users with learning disabilities needs in a more appropriate way.
The learning developed from running the workshops will be utilised to ensure future activities can also achieve the successful outcomes that this group has achieved so far.
