Singing to Bring Joy to the Hoyland Community 2026 – Hoyland Community Choir

What is it about?

Professionally led weekly singing activities for adults, to improve wellbeing and mental health, in a friendly, inclusive environment at an accessible local venue with good public transport links. Music lifts your spirit and brings joy.

For people over 50 or anyone who is lonely and needs companionship and joy brought to their lives by singing.

Suggested donation per session £5.

The sessions can also be listened to afterwards as they are streamed on HCC’s  Youtube channel.  Some people prefer to sing along to the YouTube channel, where there are also a range of individual song recordings to choose from and a words song book to use.

Who’s it for?

Adults who would like to take part in weekly singing sessions. All welcome. No previous musical experience needed.

When?

Weekly two hourly sessions on Friday mornings: 10am to 12 noon. (Not during August).

Also available ‘on demand’ via the Choir’s dedicated YouTube channel. HCC YouTube channel: Hoyland Community Choir – YouTube

Where?

The Choir meets at the Salvation Army Rooms, Central Street, (next to the Co-op) Hoyland Common, Barnsley.
