Volunteering at the Mental Health Museum

We apologise for any inconvenience, but unfortunately, due to the restrictions in place during the current pandemic, we are unable to take on new volunteers at this time. We hope to be able to offer new volunteering opportunities again very soon.

Volunteering is a fantastic way of building confidence, making new friends, learning new skills, and a meaningful way to give back to your community.

You could help us by volunteering at our front desk, researching our collection, cleaning the museum, gardening in our Peace Patio, and so much more!

If you are thinking about volunteering with us, why not come in and talk to us or speak to the Volunteer Service to find out more? Please state that you are interested in volunteering at the museum specifically.

Student Placements

If you are a student looking for a placement as part of your course, or if you are a PhD candidate and want to conduct your placement with us, we love hearing about your ideas.

As the museum is governed by South West Yorkshire NHS Trust, there are key processes you will need to go through and a separate team will manage the set-up of your placement.

The MHM provides a wonderfully thought-provoking and welcoming environment during your time with us. If you are interested in doing your placement with the Mental Health Museum, please contact us on: 01924 316 360 or email: museum@swyt.nhs.uk
