Trust achieves Triangle of Care Star 2 Accreditation
We have successfully been awarded Triangle of Care (ToC) Star 2 Accreditation by Carers Trust.
This accreditation reflects our continued commitment to listening to carers, involving them in decision-making, and ensuring their voices help shape services across the Trust.
Following a comprehensive submission process and assessment, the review panel recognised the Trust’s substantial progress in embedding the Triangle of Care across inpatient, crisis, community, forensic, CAMHS, specialist and Recovery College services.
Highlights included our strong governance arrangements, partnership working with local carers’ organisations, young carer co-production, and alignment with the Patient and Carer Race Equality Framework (PCREF).
The panel praised the Trust’s information resources for carers, and the growing influence of lived experience in training, recruitment and service improvement.
They also celebrated the commitment shown across the Trust by carers, volunteers, staff carers, carer champions, the carers steering group, partner organisations and young carer representatives who have all contributed to the development of a stronger “Think Carer” culture.
Recommended next steps include improving data on carer identification and support, helping staff feel more confident when discussing confidentiality and advance choices, consistent access to service introduction information, and ensuring conversations with carers are available in addition to ward rounds and appointments.
Carers lead Gillian Cowell, whose dedication and ongoing contribution to the Triangle of Care programme was noted by reviewers, said: “This is a fantastic achievement and a credit to everyone involved. Carers play a hugely important role in their loved one’s life and it’s essential that they are supported to carry out their valued role effectively. To be recognised for our work in making this a priority is something we are very proud of.”

The panel concluded that the Trust is well positioned to continue building on its achievements, with a strong organisational commitment to recognising carers, families and friends as valued partners in care.
