Covid Heroes: C

Take a look at who has been recognised as a Covid Hero with a first name that begins with C:

Carly Hall, CPN in the Kirklees intensive home based treatment team

“Worked throughout the Covid-19 pandemic maintaining a frontline service and providing face to face interventions and visits.”

Carol Harris, director of operations

“Carol is my Covid Hero because she has led us through a really tough time and has continued to put staff and service users at the forefront of any decisions made throughout this pandemic. Working under significant pressure as part of our leadership team, she is always accessible to provide advice and support to anyone who needs it. She is a real credit to our organisation and a brilliant boss!”

Carolyn Ellis, speech and language therapist

“Carolyn joined the trust not long before the pandemic began as a newly qualified SLT. She was a lone therapist (due to a staff vacancy) in the Kirklees learning disability team during the height of the pandemic in 2020. She worked hard with therapists from other localities to ensure service users and families were supported throughout 2020, even when face to face visit’s weren’t possible.

“Carolyn continues to provide this high standard of care and compassion to service users and families who have been through a lot. As a dysphagia trained therapist now, Carolyn often dons a high level of PPE to complete these assessments in people’s homes (which as any bespectacled member of staff knows, can be foggy and hot at the best of times!)

“Thank You Carolyn, our Covid Hero :)”

Catherine Evans, recruitment officer

“Catherine is now working in the recruitment team but was previously supporting the Trust to ensure staff were registered on the disclosure and barring update service. This service ensures that staff do not have to do repeat DBS checks. The CQC have praised the Trust for its work in this area and Catherine has done a fantastic job on this, well done.”

Coleen Garside, monitoring officer

“Coleen, you are a Covid Hero because throughout all the trials and tribulations you have done your utmost to carry out roles that were way out of your comfort zone. You have started early, finished late, work double shifts, Bank holidays plus working on different sites to help departments within facilities. You have been a monitoring officer, domestic, housekeeper, supervisor and linen lady and I would like to thank you for that.”

Charlotte Doran, health records and scanning manager

“All the way through the pandemic you have shown great leadership, and something that isn’t widely known is that due to the work of the Team you continued to come into the Trust when other corporate teams could fully work from home. This mean that the Trust could continue to meet the standards for medical records processing for our patients and carers.”

Cheryl Douglas, senior community care officer

“Worked throughout the Covid 19 pandemic maintaining a frontline service and providing face to face interventions and visits.”

Cheryl Haigh, Barnsley clozapine team

“Cheryl has gone above and beyond to ensure the needs of her service users were met throughout the pandemic. Cheryl ensured our service could continue as needed with minimal interruption and she spent time each week reassuring all her patients and ensuring they were managing throughout this difficult time.

“I personally would like to thank Cheryl for all her hard work, dedication, and support, which has been greatly appreciated, not only by her patient group, but also by her colleagues.”

Cheryl Haigh, Barnsley clozapine team

“Cheryl has worked for the trust for over 30 years and retires later this month. Throughout Covid, Cheryl, has continued to work face to face with clients in the clozapine clinic and has gone above and beyond her role making sure that with her colleague, Dan Rowett, they have delivered an exceptional service during these challenging times.

“Cheryl continues to deliver a first class service and the care and compassion she shows every day is truly inspirational.
