“Since having Sarah in role, there has been consistency and reliability in jobs being completed. She has achieved all this while also supporting admin colleagues to cover staffing shortages due to challenging circumstances.

“We are thankful to Sarah for her hard work in streamlining our work and therefore she is our Covid Hero!”

Sarah Metcalf, consultant psychiatrist

“Dr Sarah Metcalf has been a hands on consultant throughout the pandemic and has always been available to help us with ward work and A&E assessments within the mental health liaison team. This is special when many other consultants roles have meant they have been working remotely, Sarah has stayed truly front line. She also assisted with the trust’s vaccine program.

“Sarah has done this even whilst conquering her own challenges.

“Sarah goes above and beyond to support colleagues on both a professional and personal basis. She takes a leadership role and keeps staff morale going – no one in the team would ever hesitate to approach her if they needed help and they would always receive a supportive response.

“As well as the above, she also recently completed a Batley to London bike ride in aid of the Jo Cox Foundation which shows her overall genuineness to do positive things in the world.”

Saru Bazaya, CPN in the Kirklees intensive home based treatment team

Sally Bell, mental health practitioner

“In the early weeks of lockdown we had to very quickly adapt in CAMHS and figure out how to support children and families when we could not meet them in person. Whilst also learning to use video calls and coping with our own anxieties.

” My colleague quietly pulled together a directory of helpful websites, APPS, local and national organisations that we could share with people who use our service. As we were given increased permission to communicate with our service users by email this proved invaluable and became a standard tool in risk assessments. We are able to share her list to give young people and their families options including who else they can lean on and practical information they can use as coping skills in overcoming difficulties.

“Being able to send these few pages was far better than advising people to find websites themselves, many parents and young people are very grateful for the list. We still use it and Sally’s quick thinking and calm approach set the tone for one of the things we learnt in the pandemic.”

Sinead Camp, communications assistant

“Sinead is the front of house person of the team, being the person, most people use to access our team and service. She has managed our comms inbox and team phone line during an exceptionally busy time, when usual service requests have continued but been dwarfed by the number of requests received on coronavirus. Despite this Sinead has dealt with enquiries with speed and efficiency and handled sensitive subjects with care and compassion.

“She is a real asset to the team and has helped us during busy times to deliver, and to support those who needed our help. She has also supported other members of the team through challenging times. Thank you, Sinead.”
