Local learning disability service stars in national DVD

Date:

The Horizon centre, a learning disability service at Fieldhead in Wakefield, has featured in a special DVD to help share good practice across the country with other NHS organisations.

Staff and service users took part in the filming of the DVD, which has been distributed nationally. The DVD focuses on the 2007 commission for healthcare audit which acknowledged the centre as one of the best in the country.

The centre was commended for its environment and building, the partnerships created and the attitudes of the staff. The healthcare commission officers were especially impressed with the model of the service and its innovative approaches.

A printed report of the audit was produced and the DVD was developed as a more accessible version. The Horizon centre was one of just two services nationally invited to take part in the filming of the DVD.

Service manager Ann Rutter said "It was the hard work of staff and service users alike that led to our success. There were lots of people working hard behind the scenes. Everyone was involved in some way it was very much a team effort.’
