Help us to transform local NHS services in Wakefield

Date:

A local NHS trust that provides specialist NHS services is inviting people in Wakefield to a series of engagement events to help shape the future of services in the area.

The events are part of South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust’s transformation programme. The Trust provides a range of community, mental health and learning disability services to people in Wakefield, Barnsley, Calderdale and Kirklees.

Its transformation programme is working to transform the way Trust services are delivered to make sure they continue to meet local need, offer best care and better outcomes for patients and are value for money.

Two events will be taking place in Wakefield on:

  • Friday 28 June, Kingswood Suite, Town Hall, Wakefield
  • Monday 8 July, Assembly Room, Town Hall, Pontefract

The programme will review all services to make sure they meet the high quality standards that local people expect. Steven Michael, Trust chief executive explains, “More and more is demanded of the NHS at a time of restrained government spending. Health services must transform and adapt to ensure resources are focussed on areas of most need.

“Our transformation work is being taken forward with an emphasis on co-production – involving people who are important to us in influencing the planning of future services. By continuing to transform services, we can make sure that when people need to access our services, they have the best experience they can. We also want to make the most of the latest treatments and technologies to help people through illness and to recovery.”

The events are an opportunity to share the Trust’s vision for services and gather views on how best to make progress. People are encouraged to come along to help influence the way services are delivered, the buildings used and how staff work.

Events are free and open to anyone so feel free to come along with friends, family or colleagues. Events taking place in other areas include:
