Pontefract event to help boost your health and wellbeing

Date:

A special event is being held in Pontefract to offer free health checks and help motivate local to improve their health and wellbeing.

Health trainers from South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust are inviting local people to visit the St. Giles Centre, Market Place, Pontefract, on Wednesday, 3rd July between 10 am and 1pm.

The event will also be an opportunity to network with support agencies and information stalls at the event will include free NHS health checks carried out by the health trainers, advice from the stop smoking service, community food and health workers, Arthritis Care and many more.

Health trainers offer support, motivation and encouragement to anyone in the local area that would like to make healthy changes to their lifestyle.

Each health trainer works with people on a one-to-one basis and can help with a variety of issues including weight management, healthy eating, stress, stopping smoking, physical activity and alcohol. They help individuals to set realistic personal goals and find other services that may benefit and help them to maintain the lifelong changes they‘ve made so far.

Rita Gooding, senior health trainer, said: “We have a great number of health and wellbeing resources available in Pontefract. We’d like to invite anybody who lives in the area to come along to this event to find out more about them and how they can be accessed.”

For more information contact senior health trainer Rita Gooding on 07900 053581 or health trainer Sue Fenton on 07771 371855.
