During October, Calderdale specialist NHS stop smoking service, which is provided by South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, is encouraging smokers throughout Calderdale to take part.
Stoptober provides smokers with a range of free support including a new stop smoking pack, a 28-day mobile phone app and text support with daily updates and quitting advice, detailed tools and tips for coping, as well as the encouragement and support from thousands of people quitting together through Stoptober social media.
Many famous faces, organisations and employers are supporting the stop smoking campaign and Calderdale stop smoking service wants to encourage local people to use this opportunity to quit. Anyone who signs up to quit during Stoptober with Calderdale specialist NHS stop smoking service or a participating pharmacy will get free NRT for four weeks.
Andrea Cadwell, service manager for Calderdale stop smoking service said, “I would encourage all smokers in Calderdale to take up the Stoptober challenge. If you quit for 28 days you are five times more likely to stay smokefree. Our service is on hand throughout Stoptober and beyond to help smokers achieve this goal.”
Throughout October the service will be running drop-in sessions to give people a taster of what support is available and what the group stop smoking sessions are like, so they can stay smokefree after Stoptober.
Drop-in sessions will be held on the following days and locations:
- Monday, 4pm-5pm
King Cross Library, 151 Haugh Shaw Road West
- Wednesday, 11.15am-12.15pm
