Missed Stoptober? You can quit anytime with Sheffield stop smoking service
If you missed this year’s Stoptober- England’s mass 28 day stop smoking attempt – don’t worry, Sheffield Stop Smoking Service is ready to help you quit any time.
Sheffield Stop Smoking Service is made up of trained advisers who offer smokers advice, information and support. This includes information on what medications are available (like patches and gum), tips on beating those cravings, and support to help you stay quit for good. This is a free, non-judgemental and confidential service and is tailored to suit the needs of each individual smoker.
As well as running stop smoking clinics across the community you can visit the team at their city centre Quit Stop at 39 Charles Street, just off Pinstone Street, only 2 minutes walk from the Town Hall.
The Quit Stop, which is open six days a week, gives people the opportunity to drop in at any time with no need for an appointment. It aims to help anyone thinking about stopping smoking or those whose resolve might be wavering.
Claire Holden, the service manager at the Sheffield Stop Smoking Service said, “You’re four times more likely to quit smoking for good with the help of a trained stop smoking adviser and using medications. As soon as you stop smoking your body will begin to repair the damage caused by cigarettes, so it’s never too late to quit. Our free help is available all year round, so if you weren’t one of the 1,520 people in Sheffield who signed up for this year’s Stoptober don’t worry there’s still support available. Our stop smoking advisers are ready when you are!”
During November the service is offering a prize of a 6 month family membership package to use in any SIV (Sheffield International Venues) to someone who quits smoking with them. Just contact the service for more details of how to enter this prize draw.
