Wakefield Stop Smoking Service, which is provided by South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, is encouraging local people to give up cigarettes for good this No Smoking Day.
This year’s No Smoking Day, which is part of an initiative provided by the British Heart Foundation, takes place on Wednesday 12 March. This year the theme is ‘V for Victory’ which aims to encourage people to win the fight against smoking.
To help smokers on the road to victory, Wakefield’s stop smoking service is holding a series of events on No Smoking Day where people can pick up information, support and advice on successfully quitting. Advisers from the service will be on hand to encourage people to form a battle plan to win the fight against smoking.
Local people are invited to attend the following events, running between 9.00am – 4.00pm on Wednesday 12 March at:
- Asda Glasshoughton, Castleford, WF10 5EL
- Trinity Walk Shopping Centre, Wakefield, WF1 1QS
- Pontefract Market, Town Centre, WF8 1AU
Pippa Lloyd, stop smoking specialist at Wakefield stop smoking service said, “We really want to encourage people in Wakefield to come along to our events to get help and support on successfully quitting. We know that people want to quit, but find it hard, that’s why we’re on hand to help. People are four times more likely to quit smoking for good with expert advice from the specialist service.
“Quitting smoking is the single best thing people can do for their health and No Smoking Day is a great opportunity for people to join thousands of other quitters in attempting to give up smoking for good.”
