Nominate teams within forensic services for NHS Trust awards!

Date:

South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is encouraging people to nominate teams working within the Trust’s forensic services in the Values into Excellence awards – the organisation’s new staff recognition scheme.

Staff working in the Trust’s forensic services provide care and treatment in medium and low secure inpatient settings at Fieldhead, Wakefield. Throughout November, people will be encouraged to nominate teams working in the following areas:

  • Newton Lodge, medium secure unit (The Yorkshire Centre for Forensic Psychiatry)
  • Bretton Centre, low secure service
  • Newhaven, learning disability low secure service

Values into Excellence celebrates the hard work and excellent services that staff provide every day. To do this, people are being asked to nominate teams within forensic services that have lived one or more of the Trust’s values to deliver an excellent service:

The Trust values are:

  • Honest open and transparent
  • Respectful
  • Person first and in the centre
  • Improve and be outstanding
  • Relevant today, ready for tomorrow
  • Families and carers matter

Examples of living the values could include teams that have; put people at the centre of care by asking them to be involved in decisions about the support they are receiving or used innovative technology to improve the quality of life of people in our care.

Ian Black, Trust chair explained, “Making sure that our staff live the Trust values is key as they create a common sense of purpose for all staff and unite our services. The values guide us each day to make sure we provide the best possible care for local people.

“Everyday teams from the Trust work hard to provide excellent services to the people who we work with. It’s really important that we celebrate the work of our staff by giving them the recognition they deserve.

“Values into Excellence is a great opportunity for people who have come into contact with Trust teams within forensic services to let them know that they’re doing a great job.”

Every team within the Trust that gets nominated will receive a certificate presented to them by their director. From all of the nominations received, one team from the Trust’s forensic services will be selected as the ‘winner of winners’ by a panel of judges including Trust chair Ian Black, representatives from the Trust’s Members’ Council and Staff Side union.

The winner will be invited along to a special event where their achievement will be celebrated with senior representatives from the Trust including Steven Michael, Trust chief executive and Ian Black, Trust chair.
