Ready, steady, cook!

Date:

People in Wakefield are being invited to attend healthy eating sessions which will support them to make a change to their eating habits, gain confidence in the kitchen and learn to cook healthy recipes.

The ‘Cook and Eat’ sessions, led by South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust’s community food and health team, will give attendees helpful tips on shopping and budgeting for meals along with practical cooking skills.

The first of the sessions will begin on Wednesday 1 April at The Yorkshire Coalfield Resource Centre in Pontefract and will run for five weeks. Further sessions will take place at venues across Wakefield at a variety of times.

Beverly Juniper, team leader for the community food and health team said, “The cook and eat sessions are great for people who want to make a change to their eating habits or learn to cook a variety of meals to get support in a fun and friendly environment.

“The sessions are led by our trainers who’ll provide handy tips and advice on buying, preparing and cooking a variety of meals. We’d really encourage people in Wakefield to come to a session and give it a go.”
