Kirklees Dementia Action Alliance shortlisted for award

Date:

The Alzheimer’s Society is holding the second National Dementia Friendly Awards on 16 September 2015. Kirklees Dementia Action Alliance has been selected as a finalist in the category of: Best Dementia Friendly Community Initiative.

The awards celebrate the incredible achievements communities across the UK have made in becoming dementia-friendly. Over 300 applications were submitted for this year’s awards and finalists were selected under seven categories.

The Trust supports Kirklees Dementia Action Alliance, which was formed with an ethos to involve as many people as possible to help make a “Kinder Kirklees” and a more compassionate community. It is a collection of stakeholders brought together to improve the lives of people with dementia in the area.

Dawn Stephenson, Director of Corporate Development at the Trust said: “The awards are a great opportunity to reflect on all of the hard work and achievements of the Alliance to date and our members, supporters and partners in helping to make Kirklees a dementia friendly community.”
