Kirklees Insight team are on the ball with service user football sessions

Date:

Our Kirklees Insight team have teamed up with our linked charity Creative Minds and Huddersfield Town Foundation to offer game-changing football sessions for service users.

People using the Insight service kick off their training sessions every Thursday where their ball skills are put to a fun and friendly test. Service users who show commitment and skill are then selected to play in tournaments across the country.

Recently, a five-a-side team took part in a disabled football tournament in Watford and won two games. The Insight team support service users with planning to take part in the tournaments independently and managing any anxieties they may have.

Isaac Keighley, coach at the sessions, said: “Aside from the football it was brilliant to see everyone seeming to get a lot closer and we seem to be getting more friendships from these sessions.”

Habib Dadhiwala, support time and recovery worker with Insight, said: “These sessions are more than just football. They give people the chance to be part of a team, part of something bigger. Taking part in these tournaments is a really big thing for the Trust. Everyone puts a lot of effort in and it’s really rewarding for all of us.”
