No, the Trust provides PPE that is compliant with regulations and legislation.
If worn inappropriately PPE can damage skin. Please refer to the NHS guidance on helping to prevent facial skin damage beneath PPE, which is available on the coronavirus intranet page. Some people find PPE uncomfortable as it can make you warm and some people find the elastic used to secure the mask and the gloves irritating. You are advised to moisturise your hands if you need to wear gloves frequently.
Escorted leave is being closely monitored and in most cases will only be accessed if social distancing can be maintained. However, in exceptional circumstances where staff are required to hold a service user’s hand as part of their management and care plan (for instance in learning disability services) PPE should be worn.
