Yes, this is already occurring in inpatient locations.
All cases are reported into Silver Command however there will be a clear differentiation between direct Trust cases and indirect care home cases.
Each emergency bag has 4 sets of PPE for use in the event of CPR.
Sneezing is not classified as aerosol generating.
Chest compressions are not classified as aerosol generating. However, the Trust has made a decision to wear the level of PPE that is required for aerosol generating procedures in this instance and recommend FFP3 masks, although CPR must not be delayed due to this.
No, all of the PPE that is worn when undertaking an aerosol generating procedure should be used for dealing with that individual service user only.
Training is ongoing. Many of the staff that perform aerosol generating procedures have already been fit tested. A programme for fit testing all clinical staff who work in inpatient areas started on 27 April 2020. Staff will be called to fit testing sessions in due course.
There is no requirement to isolate individuals that are not displaying symptoms and the ward can be cleaned in the usual manner.
Please ensure that this occurs. Ward managers should liaise directly with the infection prevention and control team about clinical issues.
During the pandemic, drinks trollies are not permitted in order to reduce the risk of cross infection.
