Currently only the testing of symptomatic staff is compulsory. If staff are asymptomatic it is not compulsory and some have opted out.
Testing of symptomatic staff has to be a priority, so timescales for asymptomatic testing will depend on fluctuations in symptomatic cases. We have already begun contacting some staff within the vulnerable category and some asymptomatic testing has begun.
National guidance is expected from the government regarding the frequency of testing.
There is no plan to do antibody testing; neither does any other organisation have this yet.
Personal details are not given out. Information is being shared with GPs to record on medical records of staff who are their patients. Information is not being shared with the CCG or Public Health unless necessary.
Currently the results are being received between 24 and 72 hours after the test has been undertaken.
The current test matrix is for staff only. Family members can be tested through the national routes.
If you are symptomatic you should be informing your manager of this to ensure appropriate support is provided.
If you have had a test, results are provided to staff members via one of three routes:
An infection prevention and control member of staff will contact you directly
A nursing directorate admin staff member will contact you directly
You will receive an email from the national website
Testing will take place when there is evidence of transmission. The infection prevention and control team with monitor this closely and take steps if required.
You can apply for a test if you have symptoms and you:
