Coronavirus
If you use social media, just take a moment to think even more carefully than normal how you use it at this time. Please think about how what you say and share might affect others. Will it reassure or alarm? Will it help? Is it kind? What is your intent when sharing it? Please remember as NHS staff, you are in a position of trust.
Please use social media professionally and in line with the code from your professional bodies and Trust policy. Post and share wisely. Please also think about how scrolling through social media affects you.
For a 3 month period starting from 10 April 2020 managers can approve additional hours for staff on bands 8a and above as part of the Trust’s Covid 19 response.
The payment will be at standard time for any additional hours over and above 37.5 per week and made on the basis that:
• The additional hours are pre-authorised, unless there are exceptional circumstances.
• That the payment relates t the staff member carrying out their role or duties equivalent to their grade.
• Staff acting down or undertaking other duties in a lower band will normally be paid at the rate for the job.
• Unless there are exceptional circumstances the Trust would not expect, for health and safety reasons, staff to work on average more than 48 hours over a 13 week period.
Coronavirus affects people in many different ways. Some people will have very mild symptoms and can return to work as normal whilst others will have complications and may require further medical support including a stay in hospital. In cases where a staff member has had complications it would be advisable to seek advice from occupational health to ensure a return to work is planned well appropriately and managed well. Your manager may make a management referral to occupational health.
We also advise regular discussions between a manager and a colleague to check on their progress, this can be done through supervision. The Trust’s sickness absence policy and procedure provide further information on managing a return to work following illness.
