Calderdale NHS staff thanked for their long service

A group of five NHS staff from across Calderdale with 126 years of service between them will be congratulated at a special event held by South West Yorkshire Mental Health NHS Trust.

The ceremony will be held on Monday, November 19 at St Luke’s Hospital, Huddersfield. Members of staff will receive certificates and gift vouchers in recognition of their many years of dedicated service.

One of the members of staff, Polly Baxter, a senior community nurse in the disabled children’s team based in Halifax, has worked in the NHS for nearly 26 years. She said, "I really like my job, I always have done and I’m happy here. I’m part of a great team, and I love working with disabled children and their families."

Another amongst those receiving an award is Trust human resources director Alan Davis, who has been involved with awards scheme for several years. Alan said, "The NHS is an excellent employer, and I’m proud to have worked here for 25 years. There’s a sense of community amongst NHS staff – there’s thousands of us and we’re all working for the same team."

Jan Wilson, acting chair, and Steven Michael, chief executive, will present the awards. Jan said, "This event is an opportunity for the Trust to thank staff for their remarkable contribution to the NHS. Their tireless commitment helps to improve the lives of so many local people with mental health problems and learning disabilities. It is a privilege to work with such hard working, dedicated people."
