NHS staff put their best feet forward in a 5k fun run

Date:

Staff and service users from a local NHS mental health trust boosted their wellbeing this afternoon at a fun run in Halifax. The fun run was organised as part of the Trust’s wellbeing month and in association with the national anti-stigma Time to Change campaign.

South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is the local provider of specialist NHS mental health and learning disability services. It is hosting wellbeing month throughout October and over 200 events have been planned to take place across Wakefield, Calderdale and Kirklees.

Staff from the Trust used their lunch breaks to take part in the run at Spring Hall Athletics track in Halifax and they were joined by people who use Trust services. The run was 5km and people who took part were encouraged to run, jog or walk the distance to boost their physical wellbeing.

Jonny Glenn, an inclusion development co-ordinator at the Trust said, "It was great to see members of staff and service users getting involved and taking part today. 1 in 4 of use will experience a mental health problem and physical activity is really good for maintaining our wellbeing. Well done to all those who took part today."
