Christmas parties brighten mental health wards this holiday

Date:

Staff on the wards at Fieldhead hospital are determined not to let a hospital stay get in the way of their patients having fun this Christmas by putting on special festive parties.

The South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust provides mental health and learning disability services to people in Calderdale, Kirklees and Wakefield. But just because people will be receiving inpatient care this Christmas doesn’t mean they will be missing out on festive cheer.

A host of fun filled activities are being organised for patients who will be cared for in the Trust’s hospitals over the holidays.

During each party there will be Christmas themed quizzes, karaoke and sessions on the Nintendo Wii and even some Christmas themed nail art. Festive menus will also be on offer throughout the Christmas period along with special hampers providing extra treats.

The Trust’s acting chief executive Alex Farrell said, "Staff across our Trust will be working hard over Christmas in both our hospitals and local communities supporting people who use our services. For those people who are being cared for in our hospital settings, we will be trying to brighten their stays over the festive period, as well as offering support to their families and carers."
