Local residents in Ferrybridge invited to ‘come lunch with us’

Date:

The Wakefield health and wellbeing development team, provided by South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation NHS Trust have teamed up with the Pontefract Live at Home Scheme to bring a new lunch time experience to Ferrybridge.

Local residents over 60 are invited to come along to the Whitfield Suite at St Andrew’s Parish Church in Ferrybridge every Wednesday to meet up with old friends and make new ones while enjoying a two-course light lunch.

The lunch is prepared and served by staff from the Live at Home Scheme and there is the opportunity to join in with fun activities before hand, ranging from chair based bowls and new age kurling to quizzes and reminiscence based games.

One satisfied diner said “It’s so nice not to do your own dinner once a week, it’s all prepared and you don’t even have to wash up. Plus it’s good company – it’s a treat!”

The lunch costs £2.50 and booking is essential. For more information and to book your place, please contact Susan at the Pontefract Live at Home Scheme on 01977 695006.

Jacci Sharp, health and wellbeing development worker said, “Coming along to the lunch club in Ferrybridge is a great opportunity for older people to stay active in to their later years, maintain their independence and develop or increase their social networks by getting out and socialising with others in their community.”

The Wakefield health and wellbeing development team is provided by South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. The Trust provides mental health, learning disability and community services throughout Wakefield, as well as in Barnsley, Calderdale and Kirklees.
