Providing care that is above and beyond to local children in Barnsley

Date:

Staff working in the Trust’s health visiting and paediatric services in Barnsley have been recognised for going above and beyond the call of duty.

Cherie Miller and Carol Grey were nominated by parents they work with for recognition at this years Above and Beyond Awards, which are organised by the Barnsley Parent and Carers Forum.

Nominations are made anonymously by parents who feel that someone who has supported them deserves recognition for their efforts. This years awards were presented at a special ceremony in July.

Cherie, a nursery nurse with the community paediatric team at New Street Health Centre, was nominated for her work with children experiencing social communication difficulties and autism. Cherie said, “I was really touched to find out that someone had taken the time to nominate me for an award this year. It’s lovely to know that the work you do has made a difference.”

Carol, a health visitor in Goldthorpe was also recognised with an award for her work supporting parents of children with additional needs. Carol said, “I was very humbled to be nominated for an award. I try to do my very best for my clients but of course it is lovely to have your efforts recognised like this.”

The Barnsley Parent and Carers Forum was established in response to the Government’s plans to help disabled children and their families to get the support they need to live ordinary family lives. For more information about the Forum, call 01226 292 222
