Giving men in Calderdale a helping hand to boost their health and wellbeing

Date:

The Calderdale Health Improvement team, which is part of South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, are doing their bit in November to help men boost their health and wellbeing by encouraging them to talk to their pharmacist.

No more niggles is a campaign running in pharmacies throughout Calderdale during November which offers men the opportunity to talk to a pharmacist, in confidence, about lifestyle changes they could make such as stopping smoking, eating healthily and reducing alcohol intake.

Catherine King, a health improvement practitioner with the team explained, “Pharmacists can provide quick and easy help and advice about a range of health topics. Making small changes to your lifestyle can have a really big impact on your health on wellbeing. For example, eating more healthily and increasing your levels of physical activity will not only help you to shift those extra pounds but can also help psychologically by reducing stress levels.”

The No more niggles campaign will be running throughout November and selected pharmacists have attended training provided by the Health Improvement team and Community Pharmacy West Yorkshire so that they can deliver the key messages confidently and with support.

The campaign has been organised by the Health Improvement team in partnership with Community Pharmacy West Yorkshire and Calderdale Council.
