Invitation to Trust’s annual meeting
Local people are invited to attend ‘Our year’ – South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust’s annual members’ meeting on Tuesday 18 November at 1830 Gallery, The Artworks, Shaw Lane, Halifax, HX3 9ET.
As a foundation trust, the organisation is accountable to its membership which is made up of nearly 16,000 local people. The ‘Our year’ event will start with a showcase of the Trust’s work from 11am, with the annual members’ meeting beginning at 12noon.
The Trust, which provides a range of community, mental health and learning disability services to the people of Barnsley, Calderdale, Kirklees and Wakefield, will showcase achievements in 2013/14 as well as discussing plans for 2014/15.
The theme of this year’s event focuses on the use of creative approaches and activities in healthcare. Presentations and performances during the showcase and the meeting will highlight how creative activity increases self-esteem, provides a sense of purpose, develops social skills, helps community integration and improves quality of life.
We’ll also share examples of how we are developing community partnerships and the opportunities for people to get more involved in the work of our Trust.
The event will also be an opportunity to find out about our plans to transform services and the Trust’s financial performance over the previous year.
Steven Michael OBE, Trust chief executive said, “Our annual members’ meeting provides an opportunity to look back at the achievements from the previous year, and look forward to the plans we have in place for the future, including the work to transform our services.
“We are proud to have a membership of nearly 16,000 people who reflect the views of the communities we serve. We also work closely with our Members’ Council, who bring valuable insight and influence to the way we work. The event will give people the opportunity to meet representatives from our Members’ Council and to find out about the different ways that people can get more involved with our organisation.
