Celebrating our volunteers in Wakefield

Date:

South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is inviting local people to join them at a series of events during volunteer week to recognise and celebrate the contribution volunteers make to our organisation.

The Trust, which provides community, mental health and learning disability services in Wakefield, is hosting a special event on Wednesday 3rd June to recognise the positive impact that volunteers have had on our services.

The event will also be an opportunity for the Trust to launch a new vision for volunteering. This will increase the opportunities for people to volunteer with the Trust and introduces a new, easy to use process that makes it easier for people to become volunteers.

Local people, those who use our services and carers are invited to join our staff at the celebration event to recognise the contribution that volunteers make and to find out more about becoming a volunteer with the Trust.

Aboobaker Bhana, who works in the Trust’s partnerships team said, “Volunteering can be a very rewarding experience for lots of people. It’s an opportunity to develop skills, meet new people and also give your time to something that can have a really big impact on other people.

“There are lots of different roles that people can volunteer in at our Trust, within our community and clinical settings. From mentoring, befriending or offering peer-support to co-producing educational courses at one of our Recovery colleges. The opportunities available are varied and growing all the time.

“If you would like to find out more about volunteering, come along to the celebration event where members of the volunteer team will be on hand to answer any questions that you have. Our current volunteers will also be sharing their experiences so you’ll be able to hear first hand how rewarding volunteering can be.”

The celebration event in Wakefield will be held on Wednesday 3rd June from 11am – 1pm at the learning and development centre, Fieldhead
Ouchthorpe Lane, Wakefield, WF1 3SP
