Stoptober is back – are you ready for the challenge?

Date:

Stoptober is back and our NHS Yorkshire Smokefree service is ready to support the region’s smokers in their mission to become smoke-free.

Nationally, the Stoptober campaign has driven over 1 million quit attempts and is the biggest mass quit attempt in the country. Those who choose to quit with the support of their local stop smoking service are four times more likely to quit successfully.

Yorkshire Smokefree offers numerous clinics throughout Barnsley, Calderdale, Doncaster, Sheffield and Wakefield with group and one-to-one sessions plus telephone and online support.

The service offers expert help that gets results. Against a national quit rate of 52.1%, 62% of those who are helped by Yorkshire Smokefree quit.

All support is completely free and confidential and six out of 10 people who access the service go on to quit for good. Yorkshire Smokefree can support quitters with stop smoking aids, prescription medication and NRT.

Last year around 800 people signed up to use the Yorkshire Smokefree service during Stoptober and ambitions are high this year, with Stoptober themed events running at each clinic, backed by a social media campaign raising awareness of the event and the health benefits of stopping smoking.
