The tournament takes place in Nottingham from 26–31 March and will see over 25 countries competing at the highest level of Masters hockey.

Jacob’s journey to the world cup began last year when he played his first season for Wales Masters, representing the over 45s at the European Championships in Valencia, where the team finished fourth. Since then, he has dedicated himself to maintaining and improving his fitness through regular gym sessions and focused training to enhance his hockey performance.

Jacob said: “I’m really proud to have been selected for the Wales Masters Over-45s indoor squad for the world cup in March. Last year was my first season representing Wales at Masters level, and building on that experience to make a World Cup squad feels special. Balancing work, training and family life isn’t always easy, so being able to do this alongside my role has meant a lot.”

Selection for the world cup squad was no small achievement. Jacob attended three national trials, balancing the demands of travel, training, and family life alongside his role at the Trust. He credits the flexibility and support from colleagues for helping him manage these commitments.

Adele Fox, chief operating officer at the Trust said: “We’re incredibly proud of Jacob’s achievement and the dedication he’s shown to reach this level. His commitment and passion are inspiring, and we’ll all be cheering him on as he represents Wales on the world stage!”
